Bishop Benfield’s Retirement Party

A Retirement Gift for Bishop Benfield

A Tale of Three Volvos

Bishop Benfield has visited a congregation nearly every Sunday for the past 17 years. That adds up to thousands and thousands of miles he has driven, connecting congregations and building relationships throughout the diocese. His first two cars, trusty Volvos, accumulated nearly 200,000 miles each!

Eventually, Bishop Benfield needed a third car to continue making these journeys, so the diocese purchased – you guessed it – another Volvo. Even though this car is only a few years old, he has already put thousands of miles on it visiting congregations.

As a retirement gift, and as a tangible sign of the journey we have made together as a diocese, we would like to give the car to Bishop Benfield. You are invited to be a part of this gift by contributing to a special fund set up by the diocese.

You can also send a check, made out to the Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas and with “Bishop’s Retirement” in the memo line, to P.O. Box 164668, Little Rock, AR 72216-4668.

Gifts will continue to be accepted through the end of December.
