John Harmon Receives Official Consent

The Transition Committee received the following letter today from the Rt Rev. W Michie Klusmeyer, Canon to the PB for Ministry Within the Episcopal Church:

Dear Friends in the Diocese of Arkansas:

On behalf of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, I write to inform you that sufficient consents have been received – from both a majority of the diocesan Standing Committees and the bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church, as detailed in Canon III.11.3 – to the planned ordination and consecration of John T W Harmon, as Bishop of the Diocese of Arkansas.

Consent from a majority of the diocese and bishops is the final step in the election and consent process. The Rev. Canon John Harmon will be consecrated as Bishop of Arkansas on Jan. 6, 2024.

According to the official press release from The Episcopal Church:

In giving consent to his ordination and consecration, standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Bishop-elect Harmon ought not to be ordained as bishop, and that his election was conducted in accordance with the canons.
